The National Hospital Organization Minami Kyoto Hospital, originally known as the Kyoto Ryojo-sho, opened its doors in February 1939. It initially served as a haven for the injured and infirm. In December 1945, under the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s jurisdiction, it was renamed National Kyoto Ryojo-sho. This marked a turning point, solidifying its role as a vital national institution. The hospital’s evolution continued. In April 1975, it transitioned again, becoming the National Sanatorium Minami Kyoto Hospital. Then, in 2004, it underwent yet another transformation, emerging as the National Hospital Organization Minami Kyoto Hospital. This marked its integration into Japan’s largest medical network, encompassing 140 hospitals nationwide. The National Hospital Organization Minami Kyoto Hospital stands as a leader in specialized medical services.
