“Cradle of education management cadres” is quite a moniker. It hints at the vital role the National Academy of Education Administration plays. This academy trains leaders for schools across China. It also trains those in local educational administrative departments.
The National Academy of Education Administration is directly under the Ministry of Education of the PRC. It stands as the highest educational institution for this purpose. Since 1955, it has been injecting vitality into China’s education system. In January 1955, the academy was established in Beijing. It initiated the training of education cadres in new China.
However, its journey hasn’t been without interruption. In August 1960, the academy’s work was suspended. But, it valiantly resumed in August 1980. It was then renamed the Central Academy of Education Administration. A further renaming occurred in March 1991. It became the National Academy of Higher Education Administration. Finally, in October 2002, it adopted its current name. This is the National Academy of Education Administration.
Mao Zedong, Zhu De, and Deng Xiaoping met with graduates in April 1957. They took a group photo with the “Education Administration Academy” graduates.
Throughout its history, the academy has coached many education cadres. These cadres operate at all levels and in many fields. Teachers affectionately call it their “second alma mater”. It is a testament to the academy’s nurturing environment.
Currently, the National Academy of Education Administration hosts important organizations. These include the Higher Education Management Branch of the China Association of Higher Education. Also, the Secretariat of Education Administration Committee of the Chinese Society of Education is here. It is a national-level continuing education base. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China approves it.
Today, the academy boasts 35 full-time teachers. 66 part-time professors also contribute their expertise. The campus can accommodate 1,000 students. They enjoy a serene environment. The facilities are complete. These include the Yifu building’s lecture hall, a Headmaster building, expert apartments, libraries, and gymnasiums.
