Sichuan Agricultural University, or SCAU as it’s commonly known, has been a beacon of knowledge since its humble beginnings in 1906. Picture Chengdu, not as the bustling metropolis it is today, but a city still clinging to the remnants of the Qing dynasty. In those turbulent times, a vision was born. Xu Handu, the then governor of Sichuan, saw a need for progress, for an institution dedicated to revitalizing the very land that sustained them. His dream took root as the Sichuan Provincial Agricultural School, nestled in an old warehouse within the city walls. As the years turned, so did the tides of history. The school, like a resilient sapling, weathered those changes. It blossomed, growing in both size and reputation. From those modest beginnings emerged a force in agricultural education and research, now a sprawling campus with a legacy of nurturing some of China’s finest agricultural minds. Today, SCAU stands as a testament to the power of vision and perseverance, a place where the past and the future of agriculture intertwine.
