吹田市立吹田第一小学校

In 1874, a seed of education was planted. Right here, the Suita City Suita Daiichi Elementary School first opened its doors. Originally known as the “Third Elementary School of the Fourth Middle School District within the jurisdiction of Osaka Prefecture”, this school has witnessed the ebb and flow of time, changing names and growing along with Suita City. Suita Daiichi Elementary School stands as a testament to the enduring power of education. Imagine children from different eras, walking these same halls. They learned, laughed, and grew within these walls, shaping the community we see today. The school has seen significant changes throughout its history. It merged with Shimodashinda Elementary School in 1887 and later separated again. As the city grew, so did the school, eventually leading to the separation of Suita Daini and Suita Daisan Elementary Schools. During WWII, cavalry troops were stationed here, and children participated in war efforts, even converting the playground into a farm. The school’s growth continued after the war, exceeding 1,800 students, which is a remarkable testament to its importance. The school survived a typhoon in 1934 that damaged the building. It even started a school lunch program in 1947, a sign of its dedication to student well-being. Suita Daiichi Elementary School has been more than just a place of learning. It has been a vital thread in the fabric of this community for over 150 years.
