Lost beneath the towering giants of Shenzhen’s skyline lies Huainan Logistics Fee Station. It’s a place easily overlooked, yet its story echoes the city’s transformation. The Huainan Logistics Fee Station was once part of a much larger entity, the Huainan Logistics Park. This park, situated at the crossroads of Longhua, Futian, and Longgang districts, sprawled across 600,000 square meters. It held a strategic position, adjacent to the prestigious Qianhai project.
The Huainan Logistics Park wasn’t always destined for digital greatness. It started as a traditional warehousing and logistics hub. However, the local government had bigger plans. The area, including the Huainan Logistics Park, was incorporated into the Longhua District’s key development zone. It was envisioned as a vibrant “international reception hall,” mirroring the urban functions of the Futian Xiangmihu area and the Happy Coast.
The transformation of Huainan Logistics Park was a key component of the “Digital Longhua” initiative. The goal was to create a leading digital economy zone, and the park was earmarked as a central hub. This shift in focus reflected the city’s broader push toward a digital future. In October 2023, a significant agreement was signed between Shenzhen International Holdings Limited and several government entities. This agreement paved the way for the redevelopment of the Huainan Logistics Park. The plan was to transition the park from its logistics and warehousing roots into a center for the digital economy. This new hub would incorporate high-end commerce and residential spaces.
The second phase of this transformation involved the “Shenzhen International Huainan Digital Valley” project, spanning over 62,000 square meters. This project aimed to attract leading digital industries, focusing on artificial intelligence, 5G technology, industrial internet, and software information. The Huainan Logistics Fee Station, once a small part of a traditional logistics operation, became a symbol of Shenzhen’s remarkable evolution into a digital powerhouse. Its story, though quiet, speaks volumes about the city’s ambition and adaptability.
