Originally called Yotsukaido School for the Mentally Handicapped, this institution has evolved significantly over the decades. Its history is one of expansion and adaptation. In 1966, it opened a class for children with spinal muscular atrophy. Higher education arrived in 1973 with the establishment of a higher department. Just five years later, the school began offering education for severely multiply disabled children, including those with cerebral disabilities. A higher department for these students followed in 1982. A major change came in 2007. The school adopted its current name, Chiba Prefecture Yotsukaido Special Support School, reflecting its broader mission. The two-term school year system was implemented in 2010, further modernizing its approach. Chiba Prefecture Yotsukaido Special Support School stands as a testament to the power of education.
