Hondashi Elementary first opened its doors in 1874 as the Nobata Elementary School. The school has seen many changes since those early days. Over the years, it merged with several other local schools. It transitioned from Nobata to Hondajima Elementary, then to Hondamura Elementary, and finally, in 1955, it became Chiba City Hondashi Elementary School. The school’s journey wasn’t always smooth. In 1904, the original school building was relocated to its current site. Later, in 1908, four schools were consolidated. This led to the creation of Hondajima Elementary. Further reorganizations followed. In 1958, Hirayama Elementary split from Hondashi Elementary. Later, in 1977, Hondashi East Elementary was also established as a separate entity.
