Stepping onto the grounds of Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School, one might sense the echoes of its rich history. Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School first opened its doors in 1956. It was established as a separate entity from Itsukaichi Junior High School. The initial enrollment consisted of 180 first-year students and 183 second-year students. Over the years, Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School witnessed further growth and expansion. Kawagishi Junior High School became part of it in 1960. Hoshikuki Junior High School joined in 1965. Affectionately known as “Matsuchu,” Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School holds a special place in the hearts of its alumni and the local community. A major renovation project transformed the school between 2012 and 2015. This period presented challenges for students and staff. They had to adapt to temporary facilities and alternative locations for sports and club activities. They utilized the Matsuchu gymnasium, the Hanawa Sports Ground, and the Aoba no Mori Sports Facility. However, the result was worth the wait. Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School now boasts one of the newest school buildings in Chiba City. In 2020, Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School celebrated its 60th anniversary. The school’s educational philosophy emphasizes the holistic development of each student. It encourages a love for learning, intellectual curiosity, and physical well-being. The school motto embodies the spirit of “Victory, Vitality, and Virtue.” These values were instilled by the very first graduating class in 1956. They designed the school emblem, a central “V” representing these three core principles. Virtue, in particular, holds a special significance. It encourages students to consider what constitutes a good person. It prompts them to reflect on actions that bring joy and positivity to themselves and others. Currently, Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School serves approximately 416 students across 12 regular classes and 3 special needs classes. As it continues its journey, Chiba City Matsugaoka Junior High School strives to create a legacy of academic excellence. It seeks to foster well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to society.
