Ever wanted to observe polar bears without trekking to the Arctic? Then you have come to the right place. We are standing in front of the Arctic Bear Hall in Macau. This hall offers you a unique opportunity. You can see Arctic animals up close.

Inside the Arctic Bear Hall you can see the habitat of polar animals. A huge acrylic glass separates you from the animals. Observe mighty polar bears swimming. You can also watch snow foxes. These animals thrive in this icy world. You can experience their polar environment firsthand.

The Arctic Bear Hall is designed for all ages. Everyone can learn about polar environments and animals here. The main animals on display are polar bears and snow foxes.

Please remember some rules during your visit. Do not feed the animals. Smoking and open flames are prohibited. When viewing the animals do not tap on the glass. Flash photography is not allowed. Follow the staff’s instructions. Be careful of slippery surfaces. Do not push. Do not run. Please do not shout.

The Macau Giant Panda Pavilion is also nearby in Seac Pai Van Park. It offers another animal experience. You can easily reach it by bus or taxi from Taipa ferry terminal. It is also close to the Cotai Strip.

At the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion, you might see Kang Kang. He is one of the twin pandas born in Macau in June 2016. His brother Jian Jian might be asleep. The pavilion is divided into two sections. Kang Kang and Jian Jian occupy one half. Two other pandas from Chengdu are in the other half. They are displayed separately. Staff say the pandas would fight if kept together.

Pandas are not the main attraction in Macau. Macau is famous for its casinos. But the pandas offer a peaceful break from the city’s bustle.

Kang Kang might munch on bamboo near the glass. Parents often take photos of their children with him. The atmosphere is relaxed. Guards ensure excited children do not tap the glass. Informative posters and books teach about pandas. You might even see a display of panda poo. Each adult panda produces about 10 kilograms of poo daily. That equals the weight of 66 apples.

Pandas prefer to stay cool. The pavilion is kept at around 20 degrees Celsius. You can also see red pandas here. These are smaller cousins of the giant panda. Monkeys lemurs parrots and flamingos also live here.

An information center provides details about Jian Jian and Kang Kang’s birth. Pandas are born as small pink cubs. They transform into black and white adults.

The Arctic Bear Hall and the Panda Pavilion are great places to visit. They offer a respite from Macau’s busy casinos. The pavilion closes for lunch from 1 pm to 2 pm. Tickets allow entry in one-hour segments. This might be enforced during busy periods like Golden Week. Enjoy observing these fascinating creatures in Macau.
