Established in 1902, Beijing Normal University wasn’t always the sprawling campus you see today. It began as the Education Department of the Imperial University of Peking. It also champions teacher education and educational science. Beijing Normal University now encompasses two campuses: the main Beijing Campus and the newer Zhuhai Campus. Its libraries house an impressive collection of over 5.4 million physical books and a staggering 8.2 million e-books. It features a muduo, an ancient Chinese bell, symbolizing the resounding impact of teaching. This logo, with the university name inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong himself in 1950, represents a significant piece of history. Beijing Normal University has a vibrant international presence.
