In 1964, amidst the bustling city of Beijing, a hospital emerged, now known as the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affiliated Hospital. This isn’t just any hospital. The hospital, originally named the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Capital Construction Engineering Corps Beijing Command Hospital, has undergone a fascinating transformation. It transitioned to the Beijing Nonferrous Metals Hospital, before finally finding its home within the BUCM system in 2006. Today, the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affiliated Hospital stands as a testament to the integration of traditional and modern medical practices. The hospital boasts 520 beds and encompasses 30 clinical departments, 8 medical technology departments, and 4 outpatient departments. It also serves the community through 3 community health service stations. Its medical staff includes 32 senior specialists and 70 associate senior specialists. Many hold PhDs and Master’s degrees, showcasing the hospital’s commitment to advanced medical training. The hospital’s expertise spans a wide spectrum. It offers renowned treatment for neurological disorders, bone injuries, tumors, kidney diseases, and more. The Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affiliated Hospital is also a center for education and research. With 12 doctoral supervisors and 46 master’s supervisors, it plays a key role in cultivating the next generation of Chinese medicine practitioners. The hospital has actively engaged in 13 national-level research projects and 17 provincial and ministerial-level projects in recent years. This commitment to research and innovation solidifies its position at the forefront of Chinese medicine.
