While their products weren’t found to contain melamine, the scare led to a surge in demand for their milk in Beijing. This caused a temporary buying frenzy. The company’s stock price soared for six consecutive trading days before they voluntarily suspended trading.
Beijing Sanyuan Foods wasn’t just about business. They acquired a stake in the troubled Sanlu Group in 2009 during its bankruptcy proceedings. Furthermore, they expanded their reach in 2011 by partnering with New Hope to acquire Hunan Taizi Milk Company. Beijing Sanyuan Foods also invested heavily in a new dairy industrial park in Daxing District. This demonstrated their commitment to modernizing and expanding their production capabilities.
Beyond production, Beijing Sanyuan Foods champions dairy education and appreciation. They house the Capital Dairy Science Museum, a unique space dedicated to milk.
