“What does 至誠一貫 mean?” a student once pondered. This brings us to Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School. It is a beacon of education in Itami.

Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School has a rich history. Its origins trace back to two schools. These are Hyogo Prefectural Itami Middle School and Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School for Girls.

In 1948 these two schools merged. This merger created the co-educational Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School. The school carries on a legacy of academic excellence.

Before its current form the school saw many changes. In 1921 Itami High School for Girls opened as Kawabe District High School for Girls. It changed its name to Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School for Girls in 1922. The school building was completed in 1923.

The school established its motto in 1927. The motto was “Be friendly be upright be honest be gentle”. This motto was revised in 1936. It changed to “Sincerity Perseverance”.

Hyogo Prefectural Itami Middle School’s history also contributed to the school. It was established in 1902. This school defined three virtues for students in 1910. These were self-control truthfulness and sincerity.

Many notable figures have graduated from Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School. They include Yokoyama Entatsu a comedian. Also among them is Ichiro Katoh a land racer and Tadao Takayama a football player.

Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School encourages various club activities. These include sports clubs. There are also cultural clubs.

In 1971 Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School allowed students to wear informal clothes. However formal events still required standard uniforms.

A new multi-purpose hall Midori So-kan was built in 2001. It marked the school’s 100th anniversary. This hall has many facilities. These include a large hall and smaller meeting rooms.

Today Hyogo Prefectural Itami High School stands as a testament to Itami’s commitment to education. It blends tradition with modern values. The school prepares students for future success.
