“Connecting the city with nature” is more than just a slogan for the Xingyao Road Bridge. It’s a testament to Beijing’s ambitious vision.

The Xingyao Road Bridge stands as a modern marvel. It reflects the city’s blend of historical significance and future aspirations. This bridge is not just a crossing. It is an experience.

Spanning 639 meters with a broadness reaching almost 55 meters, the Xingyao Road Bridge accommodates eight lanes. Its main span reaches a height of 280 meters. It is near Lianshi Lake. The Yongding River Bridge represents the last stretch of a 600-year-old road. This connects Beijing’s urban and suburban areas. It speeds up transit to the city center.

The Xingyao Road Bridge crosses Shougang Industrial Park. This park was once China’s steel industry hub. Now, it’s the site of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The bridge was inaugurated in September 2019. It’s an engineering jewel created by designers from China and around the globe. In July 2020, it received the Award of Merit in the Bridge/Tunnel category.

Designers implemented curved steel sheeting and digital design technology. This created a rigid-structure composite system with tie rods. Two asymmetrically inclined steel towers symbolize gates. They connect the city with nature. Separate steel beams in varying profiles add to its unique design.

The lighting project was curated by the Beijing Municipal Engineering Design Research Institute. They collaborated with Frontera Lighting Design studio. Linea Light Group professional solutions were utilized. These solutions offer modern lines and minimal design. They integrate perfectly into the structure.

Prolamp RGBW projectors with DMX control create multicolour scenographies on the spans. Narrow spot optics allow for precise light beams. Beret recessed ground spotlights illuminate the pedestrian passageway beneath the bridge. They highlight details and offer robustness. AquaStop technology adds to their appeal.

Paseo transparent polycarbonate bars shine light on the bridge’s lower part. They are customized with a 4500K color temperature. Installed both recessed and with elliptical optics, they direct the light beam without dispersion. Paseo bars are also found along the handrails of the lateral stairways. Recessed within, they ensure only the light beam is visible.

The Xingyao Road Bridge embodies Beijing’s spirit. It blends innovation with respect for the past. As you stand here, consider the bridge’s role in connecting not only places but also eras.
