Guanyue Temple began as a Guandi Temple. It was dedicated solely to Guan Yu. This revered hero served under Liu Bei. Later in 1914, Yue Fei was added. Yue Fei was a military general known for his patriotism. The temple was then renamed Guanyue Temple. This celebrated Yue Fei’s inclusion.
Though small at 1294 square meters, Guanyue Temple impresses. It is a symmetrical three-hall complex. Exquisite ornamentation marks it as special. Now venture into Chongxian Hall. Also known as the Hall of Venerating Ancestors, it honors Guan Yu’s ancestors. This spans three generations. A large plaque bears the character for righteousness.
