Yao Municipal Taisho Junior High School was established in 1947. It started as Taisho Village Junior High School. This happened in Nakakawachi County. In 1948 Taisho Village merged and became Yao City. The school’s name changed to Yao Municipal Taisho Junior High School.
Initially the school was on the grounds of Taisho Village Elementary School. This is now Yao Municipal Taisho Elementary School. In 1949 it moved to a new location. The location was 264 Oaza Kinomoto. This was the site of the former Osaka Army Aviation Factory. A new school building was completed in 1952.
The school has seen several renovations. In 1977 the south school building was rebuilt. The pool was renovated in 1988 and again in 2004. A 50th-anniversary monument was erected in 1997. The Taisho Junior High School Education Fund was established. A brand-new school building was completed in April 2016.
