Straining to climb the steep incline, the old train lurched forward. Suddenly, the brakes failed. The train careened down the hill towards Ikeda Station, near the Kintetsu Nara Line. This tragic accident, the 1948 Ikeda train crash, claimed many lives. A memorial was erected for the victims. Here, at the Komei Jizoson, we stand before that memorial. Komei Jizoson, also known as Komei Jizoson Kuyotō, serves as a poignant reminder of the lives lost in the disaster. This small, unassuming monument holds a deep significance for the local community. Komei Jizoson is quietly maintained, a testament to the enduring memory of those who perished in the accident. The memorial is frequently cleaned, demonstrating the respect and reverence held for the victims. Though the train crash is a dark chapter in Ikeda’s history, Komei Jizoson offers a place for reflection and remembrance.
