In 1947, amidst the post-war reconstruction, Sakura City established Sakura Shiritsu Nanbu Chugakko. Later, with the city’s reorganization in 1954, it became Sakura City Nanbu Junior High School. This marks the beginning of our journey through the history of Sakura City Nanbu Junior High School. The school, affectionately nicknamed “Nanbu-chu,” has witnessed significant transformations over the years. In 1960, Nanbu-chu merged with two other schools: Sakura City Wadachi Junior High School and Sakura City Mitsutomi Junior High School. This consolidation broadened its reach and enriched its student body. Today, Sakura City Nanbu Junior High School serves a large district comprising nearly 40% of the city’s area. The campus itself reflects the area’s diverse landscape. It encompasses rural farmland, residential areas, and newly developed housing. This blend creates a unique atmosphere. Students, numbering 11 grades and 276 individuals, learn and grow amidst the school’s vibrant setting. The original school building, constructed in 1936, served the community for many years. However, time took its toll. By 2018, it was replaced with a new, modern structure. The new building incorporated barrier-free access and ample natural light. These enhancements fostered a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. Beyond academics, Sakura City Nanbu Junior High School fosters a dynamic extracurricular landscape. Students participate in various sports clubs. These include basketball, baseball, and track and field. Cultural clubs like the brass band and art club further enrich student life. The school’s motto, “Learn diligently, live cheerfully, and grow healthily,” reflects its commitment to holistic education.
