In 1960, Suminoe Elementary School faced overcrowding. To address this, a branch school was established in the current Suminoue 5-chome area. This new school eventually became the independent Osaka City Suminoue Elementary School. Now, as we stand before Suminoue Elementary, let’s delve deeper into its history. Suminoue Elementary moved to its present location in 1995, after previously residing where the Osaka City Segawa Elementary School now stands. The move marked a significant chapter in the school’s journey. In 2000, the school district was reorganized. Part of Suminoue Elementary’s district was then allocated to the newly established Osaka City Segawa Elementary School. Today, Suminoue Elementary serves students living in Suminoue’s 1st through 4th chome, Minamikasugaoka 1-chome, and Minato-nishi 2-chome. Graduates typically continue their education at Osaka City Mashiba Junior High School. While the school building may seem unassuming, it holds decades of memories and growth.
