Stepping into a time machine, let’s journey back to 1992. The Itami City Lifelong Learning Center, affectionately known as Lustre Hall, first opened its doors on April 29th. This wasn’t just another building. It was envisioned as a vibrant hub for the community, a place where people of all ages could gather, learn, and grow together. Itami City entrusted its management to the Itami Cultural Foundation initially. Later, in 2017, the management transitioned to the Itami Culture and Sports Foundation. This ensured Lustre Hall’s continued role as a vital community resource. This multifaceted facility encompasses a library, a social welfare center, and a fitness club. Lustre Hall isn’t just a building; it’s a testament to Itami City’s commitment to lifelong learning. The main hall, a spacious venue, can accommodate up to 300 people. It houses a world-renowned Bösendorfer piano, a testament to its dedication to musical excellence. Imagine attending a concert here, the rich melodies filling the air. The Southern Branch of the Itami City Library resides within Lustre Hall. It opened on the same day as Lustre Hall. It has its own website, providing a wealth of information to patrons. The library boasts an impressive collection. As of 2014, it held over 111,000 books and circulated nearly 373,000. Nearly 150,000 people visited the library that year, a clear indicator of its popularity. Lustre Hall also provides convenient access for visitors. Located a short eight-minute walk west of Itami Station on the Hankyu Itami Line. A dedicated bus stop, “Lustre Hall,” serves the center. This accessibility ensures that the community can easily take advantage of all that Lustre Hall has to offer.
