In fact the marker’s recent renovation is part of a larger initiative. All four boundary stones are being upgraded. The upgrades began in 2024. They are planned to complete in the near future.
The Cui Zhuang Village Party branch secretary Zhang Xuechao speaks with pride. He witnessed the village’s transformation. Once isolated and struggling the village has become a popular tourist destination. The marker is a symbol of this dramatic improvement.
He recalls the challenges faced by Cui Zhuang Village and its neighbors. Before improved roads and water access the residents struggled. Their lives were significantly harder. Trips to the cities of Beijing and Tianjin were difficult and lengthy. This changed in recent years.
Road improvements started in 2014. Reliable water access was achieved in 2015. The villagers’ economic lives have improved enormously since then. Many villagers have opened guesthouses catering to tourists.
The villagers of Cui Zhuang Village and the nearby villages are working together. They formed a tourism alliance in 2024. They plan to further develop this region’s tourism potential. They aim to showcase the unique aspects of each village. This collaboration is inspired by the boundary marker’s symbolism of unity.
The Beijing boundary marker is more than just a landmark. It is a testament to progress. It symbolizes cooperation between the three provinces. It represents the flourishing of local communities.
