“West Third Ring Road’s Lize Bridge owes its name to the Lize Gate of Jin Zhongdu 800 years ago”. Did you know that little fact about Lize Bridge?

Lize Bridge is not just any overpass. It is a vital interchange on Beijing’s Third Ring Road. This bridge is in the Fengtai District of Beijing. Specifically it sits where Fengbei Road meets the West Third Ring Road.

Construction began in 2004. Lize Bridge opened to traffic on July 17 2006. This solved traffic problems. It is a crucial link for those heading to the Fengtai Sports Center.

Lize Bridge is a semi cloverleaf interchange. It allows traffic to flow freely in all directions. It consists of eight overpasses and two underpasses. This complex design makes it a full directional interchange.

Many buses stop near Lize Bridge. These include Lize Bridge East and Sanluju. You can catch bus routes 997 and 458 here. Also night bus 15 and bus 134 serve this area.

The area around Lize Bridge has hotels. The Sheraton Beijing Lize Hotel is nearby. It is close to shopping centers and hospitals. The Huidu Hotel is another option. It is near tourist spots like the Prince Kung’s Mansion.

Need a quick bite? Try Nayuki’s Tea or M Stand. For something more substantial visit Jiang Xian Ya Ju.

Lize Bridge connects to the Jingkai Expressway. In 2006 it only took five minutes to reach the expressway from Fengbei Road.

The Lize Gate of Jin Zhongdu was southwest of the city. That gate gave Lize Bridge its name. Today Lize Bridge is part of a scenic route. It connects to the Fengtai Sports Center through Fengbei and Caihuying bridges.

So next time you cross Lize Bridge remember its history. It is more than just concrete and steel. It is a link to Beijing’s past and present.
