“Did you bring an umbrella?” I ask. Hopefully, you did not because you will need it at the Century Fountain Square.
Let’s explore this artistic and technically innovative space. Century Fountain Square is located on the northeast side of the Flower Ceremony Plaza. It covers 20,000 square meters. The square absorbed artistic ideas and technical construction from France, Italy, and the United States.
The Century Fountain Square features nearly 600 nozzles. These nozzles come in various types. The “Century Water Gate” at the center of the square is made of 322 water lines. It also includes 32 underground springs that form a gate-shaped fountain. The fountain sprays water up and down. It also sprays left and right in a three-dimensional crisscross pattern.
Eight “Big Cannon” fountains spray water 10 meters high. Their span reaches 30 meters. They directly hit the “Century Water Gate” in the center. On both sides of the fountain pool are snow pine fountains. You can also see water flower clip fountains. There are mushroom fountains and rainbow water curtains. These, along with the “Century Water Gate” and the eight “Big Cannon” fountains, create a world of fountains. It is a dazzling sight.
The viewing platform north of the fountain pool is three meters high. On the platform sits a row of two-story arched European buildings. These buildings are 16 meters high and 60 meters long.
Visiting Century Fountain Square is best between April and October. Plan to spend about an hour here. Entrance is free as it is included within Chaoyang Park Scenic Area. Contact information is 010-65953490. I hope you enjoyed your time at the Century Fountain Square.
