This Osaka World Peace Bell stands as a symbol. It represents a deep desire for global harmony. The World Peace Bell Association WPBA promotes this noble cause.
The WPBA was founded in Tokyo in 1982. Tomijiro Yoshida established it. He continued the work of Chiyoji Nakagawa. Nakagawa dedicated his life to peace.
Nakagawa’s journey began with personal trauma. As a Japanese soldier during World War II he was shot. Waking up alone in a pagoda he commited his life to peace. This experience shaped his mission.
In 1954 Nakagawa gifted a Japanese Peace Bell to the UN. It stood in New York. This bell became a symbol of hope. It included coins and metal from about 60 UN member countries.
The \u4e16\u754c\u5e73\u548c\u306e\u9418 here in Osaka shares a connection. It echoes the same message. Both bells bear an inscription. It reads “Long live absolute world peace”. This reflects Nakagawa’s strong wish. He wanted a world eternally in peace.
