Tianning Pagoda, also known as the Pagoda of the Tianning Temple, was constructed between 1100 and 1120. The pagoda is an impressive 57.8 meters tall and rests on a square platform. Its octagonal form rises towards the sky, a beacon of Buddhist tradition. The base of Tianning Pagoda represents a Sumeru pedestal, intricately carved with arch patterns. Look closely at the corners. You’ll see relief sculptures of heavenly guardians, adding a layer of spiritual significance to the structure. A veranda with banisters and brackets encircles the upper part of the pedestal, a delicate touch to this grand design. Tianning Pagoda isn’t just a beautiful landmark.
