Abeno Shogaku High School started as Osaka Girls’ Commercial School in 1929. The school first opened in the Higashi district now part of Chuo district. It used a former school building. This building belonged to the Kosei Yakushu Gakko.
In 1936, Abeno Shogaku High School moved to its current location in Abeno Ward. During World War II, students were mobilized. They worked in telephone offices and munitions factories. The schoolyard was even converted into farmland. Instruction resumed in September 1945 after the war.
Educational reforms led to the establishment of Asahi Junior High School in 1947. Asahi High School was established in 1948. In 1952, the school was renamed Osaka Girls’ Commercial High School. The attached junior high school stopped admitting students in 1970.
Abeno Shogaku High School took its current name in 2014. It also became a coeducational institution at that time.
