Picture a vibrant community nestled in northern Riyadh. This is Sedra a remarkable housing development. Sedra boasts modern Najdi architecture. It’s a testament to Saudi Arabia’s commitment to innovative urban planning.
Sedra isn’t just homes. It’s an integrated residential community. The first of its kind in Riyadh. This flagship project was spearheaded by Roshn a real estate firm. Roshn was established by the Public Investment Fund. The goal was to create thriving urban communities across Saudi Arabia.
Sedra’s master plan was commissioned in 2019. Construction began in 2020. The first phase was ambitious. It delivered 4500 residential units. This was completed ahead of schedule in 2022. Local and multinational firms collaborated on this impressive feat. Rezaik Abdullah Algedrawy Co was the main contractor. Other companies like Zuhier Ahmed Zahran & Co handled earthworks. POSCO E&C Co was involved. AWJ International and C1 oversaw site supervision and logistics. Dubai-based Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast and Siemens contributed to utilities landscaping and cabling.
Sedra’s off-plan sale of units started in 2021. The response was phenomenal. Demand for these homes exceeded expectations. This success led to the launch of Sedra’s second phase in 2022. An additional 2172 units were offered for sale. Roshn acquired Riyadh Front. They integrated it into the Sedra district. This expanded the community significantly. Ajdan also partnered with Roshn. Together they developed a substantial section. This included 290 residential units in a large area.
The third phase of Sedra was equally ambitious. Roshn announced the sale of another 3348 units in 2023. Retal Urban Development played a major role. They signed a deal to construct 636 more units. Dar Al Arkan joined the project. They unveiled Elie Saab’s branded residencies. Ajdan continued their partnership contributing to the construction of 302 more units.
Sedra’s name isn’t arbitrary. It’s derived from the Arabic word for jujube tree. This tree is indigenous to Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East. It holds cultural and religious significance. It’s even mentioned in the Quran as Sidrat al-Muntaha. Sedra is more than just a residential development. It’s a modern interpretation of tradition. It showcases the beauty of Najdi architecture. It’s a vibrant community that embodies Saudi Arabia’s vision for the future. It’s a testament to Saudi ingenuity and ambition. A place where heritage and modernity coexist. This is Sedra.
