Later it was rebuilt by Zain ad-Din Al-Mansouri. The current structure though is thanks to King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He oversaw major reconstruction and expansion.

The mosque has seen countless restorations. It has been meticulously maintained through the reigns of many Saudi kings. King Salman bin Abdulaziz included it in a large project. This aimed at preserving Medina’s historical Islamic sites.
