Completed in 2016 the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre stands before us. It is more than just a building. It represents Oman’s ambition to be a hub for business and tourism. The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in the Seeb area of Muscat. It sits only four kilometers from Muscat International Airport. This prime location makes it easily accessible for international visitors.

The Oman Tourism Development Company owns and developed the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Their vision was to create a world-class facility. It would attract major international events to Oman. The center’s design focuses on seamlessly connecting meeting spaces. This thoughtful design caters to the needs of conference and exhibition organizers. Expansive concourse areas make it easy for large delegations to navigate. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of landscaped gardens and water features.

Inside the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre you will find two tiered auditoriums. They can seat 3,200 and 456 people respectively. The five exhibition halls offer 22,396 square meters of column-free space. Hall 1 is versatile. It can host plenary sessions concerts and gala dinners. Halls 1 and 2 combined can accommodate over 10,000 people in theatre-style seating.

Beyond the main halls the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre includes 20 meeting rooms. These rooms can accommodate between 25 and 360 delegates. The Grand Ballroom seats up to 1,100 guests for banquets. The Junior Ballroom can host 540 guests. There are also 10 hospitality suites and a VIP Pavilion. The center provides over 55 meeting space options. A multi-story car park offers parking for 4,000 vehicles.

The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre is part of an integrated precinct. This includes a five-star JW Marriott Hotel and a four-star Crowne Plaza Hotel. A business park surrounded by a nature reserve adds to the appeal. The nature reserve is a haven for Oman’s exotic birdlife. Parklands and a wadi enhance the picturesque setting.

The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre reflects Islamic architectural style. The first phase of the project opened in June 2016. It featured exhibition halls designed by SSH and built by Carillion Alawi. The second phase which included the convention center itself opened in June 2018. Shapoorji Pallonji and Oman Shapoorji Company built it.

AECOM provided cost consultancy services. They prioritized sustainability. Excavated material was reused as fill. This helped meet LEED requirements. The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre is a key feature of the Madinat Al Irfan Urban Development. It is also known as the “city of gratitude”.

The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre’s mission is clear. It aims to host successful events. These events should exceed expectations. The goal is to benefit Oman and its stakeholders. The vision is to be recognized as a leading venue. This recognition should be based on service products people and performance. The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre truly embodies Oman’s commitment to growth through tourism. It stands as a symbol of innovation ambition and cultural pride.
