Its twin, erected in 1993, stands as a testament to its predecessor. The Casablanca Clock Tower mirrors the original minaret-style design, its four clock faces displaying Roman numerals. It’s a symbol of Casablanca’s complex history, a blend of French colonial influence and Moroccan heritage. Originally, it stood as a stark symbol of French power, a landmark in the then-Place de France. But the city grew, traffic swelled, and the tower became an obstacle. So it was dismantled, not only because of its fragility, as some say, but also because it was in the way. Now, the new Casablanca Clock Tower stands proudly in United Nations Square, a reminder of a bygone era. It’s a testament to the changing face of Casablanca, a city that has seen empires rise and fall, pirates and merchants, conflicts and conferences. Take a moment to appreciate its unique history, a story etched in time and reconstructed brick by brick. Just a few minutes’ walk from here is Place De La Victoire. Several bus routes, including the 11, 40, 43, 56, and 82, pass close by, connecting you to the rest of this vibrant city.
