However after a Quranic verse forbade the abolishment of one’s bloodline he returned to his birth name Al-Miqdad ibn Amr.
His conversion to Islam was swift and unwavering. He was among the earliest converts. He hid his newfound faith from Aswad. He later migrated to Medina escaping persecution from the Meccan polytheists. He even risked his life to join fellow Muslims in their flight.
Al-Miqdad distinguished himself on the battlefield. He was said to be the first Muslim horseman at the Battle of Badr. His unwavering loyalty was evident in his words to Muhammad before the battle. “Go ahead with what you were ordered to do. We are with you. Even if you lead us to Bark al-Ghimad we will fight alongside you.”
His service to Islam extended beyond Muhammad’s lifetime. He served under the Rashidun caliphs. He was instrumental in the conquest of the Levant and Egypt. He was a skilled archer a man of immense strength. His loyalty and dedication were unmatched.
He participated in countless battles alongside the Prophet. He served as a Quran reciter for the army. He was known for his sharp mind. His unwavering faith. His enormous appetite. Legends say his size once rivaled a large golden chest.
His life ended in Damascus. Some say he died in 33 AH. Others claim he was buried in al-Jurf. His legacy however lives on. His unwavering faith his courage his loyalty. His devotion.
