“Can leadership be taught?” This question, posed by Israel’s Minister of Education back in 1991, sparked the creation of a remarkable institution – the Mandel School for Educational Leadership, right here in the heart of Jerusalem. The Minister approached Morton Mandel, a philanthropist with a vision for a stronger Israel. Mandel, along with his brothers Jack and Joseph, had established the Mandel Foundation in 1953. The Foundation focused on cultivating effective leadership. This very building, the קדם מנדל, stands as a testament to their belief in the power of education and leadership. Over 400 graduates have emerged from the Mandel School’s intensive two-year program. These graduates now hold influential positions within Israel’s educational landscape. From the Ministry of Education to non-profit organizations and even local governments, the impact of the Mandel School is undeniable. The Mandel legacy extends beyond the walls of this school. The Mandel Foundation-Israel, established in 1990, has fostered numerous leadership programs across the country. Each program, with its unique focus, contributes to a shared vision – a brighter future for Israel, driven by empowered and dedicated leaders.
