Craving some adventure amid nature? Then you are in for a treat at Park Nesher. This park is not just any green space. It is a unique blend of natural beauty and thrilling attractions.

Park Nesher is a large park located on the southern edge of Haifa. It is a joint project by KKL-JNF and the Nesher Municipality. This park offers green spaces and sports facilities. You will find footpaths and scenic lookouts. Picnic tables are available too. A trail winds through thickets of flowers.

But the highlight? Two hanging bridges. These bridges are suspended over the Katia River gully. The seventy-meter steel cables add a thrill. These bridges have become very popular.

Nesher Park spans 275 dunams. It lies on the northeastern slopes of the Carmel ridge. This positions it southeast of Haifa Bay. The park is nestled between Ramot Yitzhak and Nesher. It sits at an elevation of 100 to 300 meters above sea level.

The park’s history is interesting. The KKL-JNF began developing the area in the 1950s. They planted trees. They worked to conserve the soil. This effort transformed the rocky terrain. It honored the memory of Aba Khoushy.

In 2004, a 70-meter hanging bridge was built over Nahal Katia. Later another hanging bridge was added. The hanging bridges offer a unique experience. They are about 150 meters from the main parking lot. Visitors can enjoy the local vegetation.

The trail to the hanging bridges is also a treat. It starts at the exercise area. It winds through a pine forest. It descends into the gully. You will pass Israeli oak and terebinth trees. A stone bridge leads to wooden steps. Benches and scenic lookouts dot the area.

The Katia River flows only during winter rains. Yet, the gully is beautiful year-round. The hanging bridges form part of a walking course. This course includes crossing the river gully.

In 2009, a memorial was established in the park. It is called Derech Ori. This path honors Ori Binamo. He was the head of Nesher. He was known for promoting activities. These activities connected young people.

The hanging bridges are more than attractions. They symbolize connection. They connect visitors to nature. They connect the community to its history.

Before you leave, take a moment. Think about the effort. Think about the vision that created Park Nesher. A once barren landscape is now a vibrant space. It offers recreation and natural beauty. It is a testament to community and nature.
