Archaeologist Benjamin Mazar excavated this area in 1967. His discovery verifies biblical accounts. It strengthens belief in the story of Jesus.

Acts chapter two describes an event here. The disciples spoke in native languages. They addressed international pilgrims. This miracle took place during morning prayers. Thousands converted.

These new disciples were baptized. They carried the good news to their homelands. A new beginning dawned on earth. It all started in Jerusalem. It likely began upon these Southern Steps.

\u05de\u05d3\u05e8\u05d2\u05d5\u05ea connected the Pool of Siloam to the Temple Mount. Pilgrims sang songs of ascent. These are found in Psalms 120-134. The Pool of Siloam was a massive mikveh. Jews used it for purification.
