Have you ever heard of the Saints Peter and Fevronia? They are revered as the patrons of family, love, and fidelity in the Russian Orthodox Church. This church, the Church of Saints Peter and Fevronia, is a beautiful example of Russian Orthodox architecture. It was built in 2014, in the historical place of a previous chapel that was unfortunately destroyed long ago. Imagine the stories that these very walls could tell. They silently stand witness to countless weddings and christenings. They have borne the weight of untold prayers for happy families. The Church is located on a small plot, next to the Intercession Monastery, which might bring to mind the tale of the boyars who disliked Fevronia and urged their husbands to run her out of the town. The story goes that the boyars had a falling out over power, shed blood and now again seek peace and tranquility. Despite the boyars’ wish to be rid of Fevronia, they had to beg Peter to come back to Murom after he, along with Fevronia, went into exile. They came back with humility to their city and reigned happily ever after. The church, built in their name, carries this message of love and fidelity in its very foundation. It stands as a beacon of hope for families and a testament to the enduring power of love and faith.
