Might the secret of Khokhlovka lie in its harmonious blend of architecture and nature? Khokhlovka is not just a place. It is an experience. I will tell you about this unique open-air museum.

Khokhlovka, officially the Architectural and Ethnographic Museum Khokhlovka, is a window into the past. It showcases the wooden architecture of the Perm region. The museum opened to the public in 1980. But its formation began in 1969. It was the first of its kind in the Urals.

Here in Khokhlovka, you will find 23 unique monuments. They date from the 17th to the early 20th centuries. These wooden constructions were brought here. They came from different parts of the Perm Krai. The museum spans about 35 hectares.

One notable exhibit is the Church of the Transfiguration. It dates back to 1702. This church comes from the Cherdynsky District. There is also the Church of Our Lady. It was built in 1694. This came from the Suksunsky District.

Another interesting structure is the Watchtower. The original was from the 17th century. The copy you see here was made in 1905. Also from the Suksunsky District is the Bell Tower of 1781.

Do not miss the Ust-Borovskoy Salt Factory. It shows salt production from the 1880s. This unique complex came from Solikamsk. Also explore the Izba of Kudymov. It is a house from the 19th century. It represents the Yusvinsky District.

Khokhlovka hosts several festivals and holidays throughout the year. In winter, they celebrate Maslenitsa. Summer brings the Great Maneuvers. This is a military reconstruction festival. There is also the KAMWA festival. It is an international event.

Khokhlovka is located on the right bank of the Kama River. It is about 43 km from Perm. The area covers 43 hectares. It displays attractive and historically important buildings.

The museum features different sectors. There is the Komi-Perm sector. It shows peasant farmsteads. Another sector represents North Prikamye. It showcases residential architecture. The South Prikamye sector includes a bell tower.

Visitors can see a variety of vehicles. These include boats, carts and sledges. They show how people lived and worked.

Visitors often describe Khokhlovka poetically. The landscape features the Kama River. There are forested hills and cliffs. You’ll also see fir forests and birch groves. Juniper grows alongside mountain ash and cherry trees. In winter, the scenery is especially beautiful. The snow-covered roofs and icy river create a magical atmosphere.

Khokhlovka is more than a collection of buildings. It is a journey through time. It is a celebration of culture and nature.
