How about a journey through legal education? Here before us stands the Saint Petersburg Law Academy a place where legal minds are molded. It stands as one of the first non-state educational institutions of higher professional education. It is the only specialized higher education institution in the North-Western region of the Russian Federation for training highly qualified personnel in jurisprudence.
Saint Petersburg Law Academy was established on July 7 1997. This was thanks to the initiative of Stanislav Fedorovich Zybina a distinguished figure in Russian science. He was a Doctor of Historical Sciences and Doctor of Legal Sciences. He also held the title of Professor and Honorary President of the Saint Petersburg Law Academy.
Zybina’s scientific and pedagogical activities combined well with social-political and practical work. From 1990 he served as a deputy of the Leningrad City Council. He was also a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg across multiple convocations. Zybina also served as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Saint Petersburg.

The Academy has produced more than 3900 graduates. These graduates include deputies of the State Duma. They also include deputies of legislative bodies of the subjects of the Russian Federation. Many graduates serve as deputies of municipal formations of Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg Law Academy alumni work in the Ministry of Justice. They also serve in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Graduates are employed in the Ministry of Defense. They are also in the Federal Customs Service.
The Saint Petersburg Law Academy building is near the Proletarskaya metro station. Classrooms are equipped with furniture and computer equipment. Video projectors are also installed. The Academy also features classrooms for practical education. These include a legal clinic a courtroom and a forensic laboratory. There are also computer classes with Internet access. The Academy has a library a reading room a sports hall a medical center and a dining room.
In 2007 the Academy received an Honorary Diploma from the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg. This was for its contribution to higher professional education in Saint Petersburg. The teaching staff is highly qualified. More than 80% have academic degrees and titles. Among them are well-known figures in the scientific and legal community.
