On August 19, 1943, a tragedy unfolded near the Место падения Ил-2. A Soviet Il-2 ground-attack aircraft, board number 50, crashed here. This very spot became a silent testament to the bravery of Captain A. F. Litovchuk and Sergeant N. A. Trunov. They were part of the 4th Guards Ground Attack Aviation Regiment of the Baltic Fleet Air Force. The Место падения Ил-2 memorializes this event. Originally, a simple wooden propeller marked the site. Later, in 1972, both propellers were moved to Borki. Another memorial related to this downed aircraft exists just 3 km to the southwest. It serves as another poignant reminder. The Место падения Ил-2 stands as a somber marker of a wartime loss. It honors the sacrifice of those who served.
