“A city of refugees and survivors.” That’s how a wise old historian once described Moscow to me. He wasn’t wrong. Think about it while we stand here before Kotel. From Mongols to Napoleon, Moscow has seen its share of turmoil. The Kotel we see today stands as a testament to that enduring spirit. Emerging from the ashes of fires and invasions, Kotel holds a unique place in Moscow’s narrative. It has borne witness to centuries of change and upheaval. Despite it all, Kotel has endured, a silent sentinel watching over the city’s ever-evolving story. While we may not know the specific tales this Kotel holds, we can feel the echoes of history resonating within its very structure.
