“Perovo District” flashes in my mind. It is a place of administrative significance in Moscow. Today we explore an installation in the Perovo district. This district is one of Moscow’s 125 raions. It resides within the Eastern Administrative Okrug.

Let’s delve into Perovo’s story. The name “Perovo” has an interesting origin. It comes from a town near Moscow. This town existed from 1925 to 1960. Later, it became part of Moscow. The Perovo we know today is only part of that former town.

Perovo District occupies 973 hectares. This makes it one of the largest districts in Moscow. You will see many buildings from the 1960s. There are typical 5-story, 9-story and 12-story buildings. Some older buildings still remain.

The Perovo district has a rich history. In the 14th century, it was mentioned for the first time. Back then, the area near Perovskaya Street was a royal hunting reserve. Tsars used to hunt here. By the early 20th century, Perovo became an industrial hub. It gained the status of a town in 1925. In 1960, it was incorporated into Moscow. Initially, it was divided between the Kalininsky and Zdanovsky districts. The current district boundaries were defined in 1991.

The Perovo district is located in the east of Moscow. It lies between the Moscow-Ryazan railway line and the Entuziastov highway. This area represents a part of the former city of Perovo.

The territory of Perovo once included other modern districts. These included Novogireevo and Ryazansky. Also Veshnyaki and Nizhegorodsky were once part of Perovo.

Currently, Perovo is one of Moscow’s largest districts. It has a population of over 137,000 people. The area of housing stock is significant. It measures around 2243.8 thousand square meters. On average, each resident has about 20.2 square meters of living space.

So, as we stand before this Perovo District installation remember its history. Remember its evolution from hunting grounds to an industrial town. It is now a vital part of Moscow.
