The Olympic Games of 2004 transformed the Faliro Sports Pavilion Arena. It became a central hub for handball and taekwondo. Originally, construction began on December 20, 2003. It officially opened almost a year later on August 12, 2004, just in time for the games. The main arena, called the “Small Sports Palace,” covers a substantial 8,536 square meters. But this is only part of the whole. The total area, including other facilities, reaches an impressive 17,000 square meters. This makes the Faliro Sports Pavilion Arena a truly remarkable feat of modern engineering. Even after the Olympics, the Faliro Sports Pavilion Arena continues to host a variety of events. It has seen performances like “Holiday on Ice” and “Disney on Ice,” alongside exhibitions like Art Athina. The arena also hosted concerts. One notable performance was by The Prodigy.
