Hello everyone. Welcome to the Athens University of Economics and Business. Today we will explore the rich history of this institution. This is the oldest university in Greece in the field of economics.
The Athens University of Economics and Business was founded in 1920. It started as the Athens School of Commercial Studies. In 1926, it became the Athens School of Economics and Business. Finally in 1989, it gained its current name. However, many Greeks still refer to it by its old acronym ASOEE.
Did you know the Athens University of Economics and Business has expanded greatly over the years? Originally, it offered only one degree. Now, it boasts eight academic departments. These departments offer undergraduate degrees, master’s programs and doctoral studies. In 2025, AUEB will launch a new English-taught program. It will be called the “Bachelor in International Business & Technology.” It is designed exclusively for international students.
The main building is located on Patision Street. The Athens University of Economics and Business also has buildings nearby. The library is home to over 100000 book titles. It also has more than 1000 academic journal titles. In 2015, an external evaluation committee gave Athens University of Economics and Business a positive evaluation.
The Athens University of Economics and Business is more than just classrooms and books. This is where Panathinaikos Football Club played from 1908-1922. Grigorios Maraslis donated money for the building in 1935.
