Did the year 1833 mean anything to you? Probably not. But for Chalkida, it marked the beginning of a journey in healthcare with the establishment of the original Chalkida Hospital. The Neo Geniko Nosokomeio Chalkidas that stands before us today, however, has a much richer tale to tell. As you can see, it is a modern structure housing 278 beds. It evolved from a smaller institution known as “Papanagnostsis”, built with contributions from six citizens. This generous act aimed to provide healthcare to the residents of Chalkida. Over the years, the need for a more comprehensive medical facility grew, resulting in the building we now see. The Neo Geniko Nosokomeio Chalkidas boasts various departments, offering a range of medical specialties and services to cater to the healthcare needs of the community. It’s a testament to the progress made in healthcare, standing tall as a symbol of care and commitment to the well-being of the people of Chalkida.
