“Wine and spirits. Anyone?” That’s what Andreas Cambas might have asked. He founded Cambas Winery in 1869.

Hello everyone. Today we explore the historical industrial site of Cambas Winery. It stands as a landmark. It symbolizes Attica’s wine-making past.

Cambas Winery’s story began humbly. Andreas Cambas started a small brandy-making plant. It was on Rigillis street. The business grew. New wine and ouzo production facilities opened in Kantza Attica. By 1920 Cambas was a major player. It became the second company in its sector to list on the Athens Stock Exchange.

The Boutari Group acquired a majority stake in Cambas. It was in June 1991. They aimed to revitalize the company. In 1997 the Boutari Group sold its shares. They sold them to investors. However they retained the wine-making division and brand names. The wine-making company was renamed Andreas Cambas Winery S.A. J. Boutari & Son Winery S.A. took over production and trade of Cambas wines in 2000.

Cambas products gained international recognition. They are exported to 30 countries. The USA the UK Belgium and Germany show high demand.

The Cambas Winery significantly boosted Attica’s agricultural economy. The winery enhanced grape cultivation. It improved wine quality. It helped modernize local farming practices.

Today the winery is a landmark. It reminds us of Attica’s rich wine-making history. The site covers 350 acres near Pailini. It stands as a testament to industrial innovation.

However the site has faced challenges. In July 1997 the Athens Organization declared Cambas estate as space for a city park. Plans to convert it to a Myth Park didn’t materialize. The area was then marked for residential development.

In 2007 a proposal suggested to convert the space. It would become a Peripheral Organized Area for Business Activities.

Controversy surrounds the site. Some believe Cambas Winery became a site for satanic rituals. These rumors add an element of mystery. They highlight the complex narrative of the winery.

Cambas Winery’s legacy persists. It contributes to the cultural identity. It is a reminder of Attica’s industrial heritage. The winery played a key role in shaping the region’s economy. It fostered agricultural development.

Despite changes and challenges Cambas Winery remains significant. It connects us to Greece’s wine-making traditions. It reminds us of industrial progress. The winery has shaped Attica. Its story is woven into the fabric of this region.
