In 1925, Brahami became its own community. It included settlements like Agia Varvara, Katsipodi (modern-day Dafni), Pikrodafni, and Agios Kosmas. The name Agios Dimitrios, meaning Saint Dimitrios, was adopted in 1928. Over time, boundaries shifted. Agios Dimitrios became part of the municipality of Dafni in 1942. Then, in 1947, it regained its independence as a separate community. Finally, in 1963, Agios Dimitrios was officially declared a municipality. The church at its heart remains.
