Welcome to the Holy Church of Agioi Akindinoi. It is a special place. This church is dedicated to Agioi Akindinoi. They were five holy martyrs. This is a unique dedication. There are no other churches like it in Greece.
Agioi Akindinoi were Akindinos, Pigasios, Anempodistos, Elpidoforos and Afthonios. They were from Persia. They lived during the reign of Sapor II. He was a Persian king. They were martyred for their Christian faith in 330 AD.
The Holy Church of Agioi Akindinoi stands in Agioi Anargyroi. It is near the Mylos of Mpari. It is also close to Kifissos. The church is a small basilica. It follows the traditional Byzantine style. This style is full of light and reverence.
Inside Agioi Akindinoi, you will see beautiful icons. One special icon shows Jesus Christ. Another shows the Virgin Mary. There are also depictions of Agioi. Two newer hagiographies show scenes from their lives. The small Holy Altar has a beautiful cover. It depicts the Last Supper.
From February 1998, the church canonically operates. In 1999, a presidential decree recognized it. The temples celebrated in July 2000. Then the Divine Liturgy celebrated.
Agioi Akindinoi are known for their strength and faith. They were tortured for refusing to deny Christ. Despite suffering, they remained steadfast. Their courage inspired many to convert to Christianity. The Emperor Sapor was furious. He ordered their execution.
The relics of Agioi Akindinoi considered holy. Many believe they have healing powers. People come to Agioi Akindinoi to seek comfort. They also ask for healing and guidance. The church celebrates their memory each year. It is on the 2nd of November.
