It’s nestled within the Humboldt University’s Faculty of Economics, near Hackescher Markt. Built around 1300, Kapelle 1 is one of Berlin’s oldest surviving structures. Originally a place of worship, Kapelle 1 has witnessed centuries of Berlin’s evolution. Its stones have absorbed countless prayers, whispers, and songs. In 2005, generous donations enabled a much-needed restoration. Kapelle 1 was reborn. Today, this historic chapel serves a new purpose. It hosts conferences, concerts, and receptions. Imagine the diverse echoes within its ancient walls. The main chapel space offers 155 square meters, accommodating up to 150 people. It’s equipped with modern technology, including a beamer, projection screen, and various microphones. There’s even a separate cloakroom with 160 hooks for guests. A dedicated catering area, known as the “Green Salon,” features a mobile counter, bistro tables, and smaller mobile tables. Kapelle 1 seamlessly blends history with modern functionality. From sacred beginnings to its present role, Kapelle 1 continues to serve its community. It offers a unique space where the past and present intertwine.
