“Family” is a word you’ll hear often at the Chinese Evangelical Church. This isn’t just any San Diego church. It’s a place where roots run deep. The story of the Chinese Evangelical Church begins in 1978. It started small. Five families gathered in a living room. They prayed. They yearned to establish a Chinese church in San Diego. Their first service was held on July 2nd. Within weeks they outgrew that small space. They found a home at College Avenue Baptist Church. Services were held in Cantonese and English. The congregation grew. They even acquired utensils for communion. They elected their first deacons. Then in 1982 they purchased an old church in Linda Vista. It needed work. The sanctuary was unkempt. The pews were old. The carpet was ratty. But with hard work and prayer they transformed it into a place of worship. Today the Chinese Evangelical Church stands as a testament to faith perseverance and community. It’s a vibrant place. They offer services in English Mandarin and Cantonese. They have programs for children young adults and families. They are involved in community outreach projects. They’re more than a church. They’re a family a community a beacon of hope and faith in San Diego. Their vision is to be more than just another San Diego Chinese church. They want people to feel Christ’s love. They want to share that love with their community. Their many pastors staff and deacons work diligently. They offer support for their congregants. They serve the San Diego area. Their history demonstrates God’s sovereignty and guidance. The Chinese Evangelical Church is a living testament to faith in action. It’s a place where you can feel the warmth of community and the power of faith. So come in. Feel the warmth. Experience the love. This is more than a building. It’s a family. It’s the Chinese Evangelical Church.
