Gateway Christian Church

Since 1950 Gateway Christian Church has been a beacon in West Los Angeles. It’s a smaller church where everyone knows each other. They care deeply about one another. This close-knit community welcomes newcomers with open arms. Gateway Christian Church is part of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ movement. Nationally they’re known as “A Movement for Wholeness in a Fragmented World”. In West Los Angeles they strive to live that out. They embrace the belief that all are God’s children. This inclusivity is evident in their weekly communion. All are invited to Jesus’ table. It’s Christ’s invitation. He meets them there. He offers bread and cup to everyone. Gateway offers both in-person and Zoom worship services. The in-person services are held at 1045 am on Sundays. The Zoom services are at the same time. The goal is to know God better. This is done through reading studying applying and obeying His word. They also focus on community. They value celebration study and growth together. They believe a vital church looks beyond itself. They give to the community sharing God’s love. One unique aspect of Gateway is its art. In 2018 during Advent a member Alexi Pyles painted during a worship service. People watched her work progress while carols were sung. The finished artwork remains a highlight. The church’s vision is to be a welcoming community of faith. They celebrate study and grow together. They also give back to the community.
