In 1971, a small group began meeting in a Wedel garage. This marked the humble beginnings of the Freie evangelische Gemeinde Wedel. They journeyed to Bahrenfeld for services, yearning for a place of their own. The Freie evangelische Gemeinde Wedel found a home in a former school building. They rented it first, then purchased it in 1989. For several years, they held services in this building, strengthening their community. In 1994, the Freie evangelische Gemeinde Wedel officially separated from the Bahrenfeld congregation, marking a significant step in their journey. The old building eventually became too small for the growing community. The Freie evangelische Gemeinde Wedel embarked on an ambitious project. They built a new 1000 square meter facility, partially through their own labor. In 2001, they dedicated this new space which also housed the “Lütt Arche” kindergarten. For over 14 years, a dedicated pastor has served the Freie evangelische Gemeinde Wedel, sharing the word of God. The Freie evangelische Gemeinde Wedel’s history is filled with community, growth, and dedication to their faith. They’ve supported missionaries, provided aid to those in need, and fostered a sense of belonging. The Freie evangelische Gemeinde Wedel continues to be a vibrant community in Wedel.
